Week-by-Week Pregnancy Process

Pregnancy is a unique process that brings about many physical and emotional changes in a woman's life. This process spans approximately 40 weeks from conception to birth. Each week, significant developments occur in the mother-to-be's body while the baby goes through various stages of growth and development. Therefore, each week of pregnancy holds different significance, and there are specific doctor check-ups that need to be followed. Regular check-ups recommended by the doctor are crucial to both maintain the health of the mother and monitor the proper development of the baby.

The Beginning of the Pregnancy Journey

What are the First Changes in the Body?

The pregnancy process begins with fertilization. This week, the sperm and egg unite and form a zygote. This process is usually not noticed by women because there are no obvious changes in the body yet. As the zygote moves towards the uterus, the female body begins to prepare for pregnancy hormonally. In particular, estrogen and progesterone levels increase, which allows the uterus to prepare to accept the fertilized egg.

What is the Implantation Process?

During this period, the fertilized egg begins to settle in the uterus. This process is known as implantation and is vital for a successful pregnancy. Some women may notice light bleeding during implantation. This is usually normal and is not a cause for concern. "Implantation bleeding" is often considered one of the symptoms of pregnancy.

Do Pregnancy Symptoms Appear Yet?

During this first week, most women do not notice the symptoms of pregnancy. However, symptoms such as fatigue, light dizziness or breast tenderness may occur as the body prepares for pregnancy. However, these symptoms do not occur in the same way in every woman and usually become more pronounced in the following weeks.
