Anemia
Prolonged heavy bleeding can cause iron-deficiency anemia: fatigue, dizziness, shortness of breath, palpitations, hair loss, pale skin.
Treatment
- Medications that reduce bleeding
- Hormonal treatment or hormonal IUD
- Drugs that temporarily shrink fibroids (often before surgery)
- Hysteroscopic or laparoscopic myomectomy
- Hysterectomy when family is complete and other options fail
Iron therapy is given alongside.
