A normal menstrual cycle usually lasts 21–35 days, with bleeding for 2–7 days. Cycles outside this range, abnormal bleeding amount or duration, bleeding between periods or absent periods are considered irregular periods.
Occasional small changes can be normal, but persistent irregularity may signal an underlying cause.
